Book Entry

Book Theif Entry

"For Liesel, it was a ride in the car. She'd never been in one before."

To me, when I first read the first sentence, it made me think- well that's easy, people ride in cars all the time. It must be plain and simple. Then I read the next sentence. It totally changed my way of thought. She had never rode in a car, so she didn't know what would happen or what it would feel like. She would probably be very nervous without any background information about what would happen. That was a great metaphor to describe Liesel's experience.

  1. Yes...that would be a good metaphor because experiencing new advanced technology feels weird but it also kind of puts you in a trance because it is so new to you.

  2. Think about never riding in a car before. That would be crazy. Like Jason said experiencing new technology feels awkward.

  4. I loved reading the book thief; death has such an interesting perspective. The end was so sad, I almost cried.
