The Book Thief Noticing

" I do not carry a sickle or a scythe. I only wear a hooded black robe when its cold. And I don't have those skull-like features you seem to enjoy pinning on me in the distance. You want to know what I truly look like? I'll help you out . Find yourself a mirror while I continue."

Death ( he narrates the story) would put something  in the story that would shock you. As usual, people would have different expressions when they would read/see/hear something shocking. He would want you to find a mirror so you could look in it and see your expression. this is how he would describe what he looks like: your face.

Book Entry

Book Theif Entry

"For Liesel, it was a ride in the car. She'd never been in one before."

To me, when I first read the first sentence, it made me think- well that's easy, people ride in cars all the time. It must be plain and simple. Then I read the next sentence. It totally changed my way of thought. She had never rode in a car, so she didn't know what would happen or what it would feel like. She would probably be very nervous without any background information about what would happen. That was a great metaphor to describe Liesel's experience.

LWW Ch 3 Edmund and the Wardrobe by 2

    Edmund and the Wardrobe Ch.3

Lucy runs out of the wardrobe to where the others are at. She tries to tell them about Narnia, but when they don't believe her, she starts to cry and runs away from them. A few days later, they begin a game of  "hide and seek" and both Lucy and Edmund hide in the wardrobe. When they enter they aren't together, so when Edmund is in the wardrobe, he sees a light and goes to  it thinking it is the room, when it is actually Narnia. When he realizes Narnia is real, he shouts a not-so sincere apology to Lucy, but is interrupted by the Queen of Narnia.

This song reminds me of when Edmund is meeting the Queen/Witch/Jadis.

Why did we settle in Fresno?

My mom came to Fresno because her parents had a divorce in Texas, so her mom came to Fresno to be with her sister. My dad came to Fresno because of that same reason: his mom moved to L.A. from Mexico to be with her family. She later had a divorce and got re-married to someone else. Her new husband lived in Fresno, so she moved here with him. My dad was already 4, so he moved there too.Later on, my parents met in high school. That's how the Arandas settled in Fresno.

I'm Lost!!

Im LOST!!!

I'm lost in a forest. I can only choose one character to accompany me. Who will I choose? The only character that makes logic sense to be with would be Polly. I would choose her for her perfect actions and how she reacts.  Polly is a quick thinker. When Digory is about to jump into another pool, she knows that they should mark their own pool first. In chapter 4, Polly tries to warn Digory that bad things would happen if he rang the bell. She  is curious but cautious at the same time(Digory is not like that). In chapters 8 and 9, she really wants to know what the Voice is, and where its coming from. This can be a good thing because being lost in a forest, she can explore enough to where she could find shelter or water, but her cautiousness would warn her not be reckless. This cautiousness could be found when they're in the secret tunnel.  She knows to keep quiet and to step in the right places. Those are great skills to have when you are lost in a forest. That's why I chose Polly. Because Polly is very cautious and has a tinge of curiousness, she would be the  perfect companion if I was lost in a mysterious forest.

My Special Book that I Read

I have just finished reading  The Mark of Athena, by Rick Riordan, which is an exciting book with quests, battles, and Greek and Roman mythology. It all starts when Leo gets possessed and fires on the Roman base camp, which triggers war and the Greeks flee. They head to Ancient Rome, where they need to save a friend that is taken hostage. Meanwhile, Annabeth has a quest of her own: to face her worst enemy in order to fix the problem between the Greeks and the Romans. The end of the story ends in a deadly cliffhanger, but of course, I will not spoil!

Here is thesong I picked for when Annabeth is on her own.

Readers Response

Dear Diary,
When I heard the unfamiliar Voice, I forgot about every thing that was on my mind. It was so beautiful, I didn't dare interrupt it. It brought back so many happy memories, like when Mother was healthy. The darkness was so scary, but as soon as I heard that noise, I loved it. It froze me into time, in a happy way. I hope when it lightens, IF it lightens, it would be a pleasant sight.
